Excellence as standard
Four awards in various disciplines for AMAG
Rain is hardly unusual in the autumn. In 2023, however, autumn brought a very different kind of rain to AMAG - with awards raining down on the company. In the space of a few weeks, AMAG received four awards in different disciplines, from sustainability to intelligent data use, and from reporting to outstanding economic performance.
This golden autumn is no coincidence. It is the result of the dedication shown by our industrious team and our ability to achieve excellence at every level of entrepreneurial activity. In the modern business world, which is characterized by constant change and intensifying competition, it is no longer enough to deliver outstanding performance in a single field. With this in mind, AMAG regards excellence not merely as a target we should occasionally achieve but as the standard we set ourselves and strive to maintain every day, as a team, throughout our company. While the awards are obviously a welcome acknowledgment of our achievements, they also represent an obligation for the future, compelling us to maintain this mindset.
A pioneer of sustainability: First place in the Austrian SDG Award
The Austrian SDG Award is an independent sustainability award presented to pioneering initiatives and institutions for their dedication in implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). AMAG has taken wide-ranging measures over several years now, including in areas far beyond its core activities - such as recycling, reducing emissions and taking responsibility throughout supply chains - to contribute to the attainment of the SDGs. This holistic approach to sustainability, following the motto of “reducing our footprint and adding value”, won through against 200 other submissions to take the title in the Company category.
Champion of emissions reduction through digitalization: First place in the Green Business Data Award
The Green Business Data Award recognizes companies that make impressive use of environmental and sustainability data in their business activities and decision-making processes with the aim of combining a positive environmental impact with commercial success. Certain AMAG products involve up to 20 manufacturing steps, with high processing speeds and, in some cases, very high temperatures. Quality inspections usually focus on the finished product. If a quality deviation is identified, the material has to be scrapped, meaning that all input energy and generated value is lost. The award-winning AMAG BigData for Predictive Quality project relies on data-driven, predictive analyses to identify quality deviations at an early stage in the production process, thereby avoiding unnecessary energy and resource use in subsequent processing.
Transparent communication recognized with the Effective Sustainability Communication Award
The Effective Sustainability Communication Award acknowledges an organization’s ability to effectively communicate sustainability concepts and measures, both internally and externally to customers, investors, partners and the wider public. AMAG regards transparent, effective communication as an important aspect of corporate management and therefore makes successful communication on sustainability-related issues through transparent reporting a high priority. This makes it all the more gratifying that the company’s efforts have been rewarded with the Effective Sustainability Communication Award for the third year in a row.
AMAG crowned Upper Austria’s leading large enterprise: First place in the Austria’s Leading Companies Award
The Austria’s Leading Companies Award is a competition based on facts, figures and data, with prizes awarded for each Austrian province in the Small, Medium-Sized and Large Enterprise categories. The winners are crowned based on their balance sheet figures and economic performance in the last three business years, which are assessed using a specially developed, objective model that evaluates key indicators. The steady improvement in AMAG’s financial performance indicators in recent business years was decisive in the company’s first-place finish in the rankings. This was made possible by the company’s proven focus on innovation and sustainability, and despite challenges such as trade disputes, geopolitical uncertainty and high price volatility on energy and commodities markets.
