Logistics at AMAG
Logistics is a crucial link between AMAG’s production activities and the subsequent processing of sheets and plates by its customers. But what exactly does this complex field involve? And how have its processes and technologies changed over the last decade and a half?
After its privatization, AMAG focused on its core competencies of casting and rolling. In 1996, AMAG founded Speditionsservice Ranshofen GmbH (SSR) in partnership with the German corporate group Preymesser with the aim of maintaining its high standards of professionalism in its supply chain.
Successfully recertified
Using raw materials responsibly and increasing resource and energy efficiency throughout the value chain are integral elements of AMAG company policy. Since 2018, AMAG has secured certification for its Ranshofen site in accordance with the ASI Performance standard, which gurantees the implementation of stringent criteria in relation to environmental, social and governance (ESG). The ASI Chain of Custody certification enables AMAG to expand its specialist portfolio with products derived from demonstrably responsible supply chains. As an innovative and profitable supplier of aluminium products, AMAG makes an important contribution to sustainable economic development.

How to calculate a carbon footprint
Life cycle analyses and carbon footprints
A life cycle analysis (LCA) is a systematic, standardized evaluation of a product’s environmental impact. Ideally, an LCA should take account of all material and energy flows. The carbon footprint of a product (CFP) represents the conclusion of an environmental audit of the greenhouse gas emissions generated throughout a product’s life cycle.

Materials with a digital product passport
coilDNA material coding technology is well-established at AMAG. Selected customers have been receiving coded aluminium sheets for around two years. The data attributed to these products enables the lead customer to trace aluminium sheets - and the products made from them - seamlessly through the production process. By implementing this innovation, AMAG has once again set a pioneering standard, always thinking one step ahead.
